1. Tessa's friend Ines plays devil's advocate in the opening scene by forcing Tessa to confront her old flame. How do you feel about Ines's act in the opening? Did your opinion of Ines shift later in the story as we learn more about her motives for twisting Tessa's arm?
2. What do we know about Tessa as a person from the oranges she's always hauling around?
3. Why do you think someone like Tessa would be attracted to someone like Mitch? Do you see their characters as polar opposites, or do they have a few things in common?
4. Mitch Ryder is a snowboarder twist on a classic character-the bad boy. What bad boy qualities do we see in Mitch?
5. What role do Ines and J.D. play in this story? What do you think attracts this Miami fashionista to an Adirondack mountain man?
6. A willingness to compromise is an important facet of Tessa and Mitch's happily-ever-after. What have they had to compromise in Tall, Dark and Daring in order to be together?
